Strategic Pillar 2
Advocacy & Policy Reforms
Our Advocacy and Policy Reform pillar is our commitment to repairing a broken system rather than simply treating its wounds. By definition, advocacy is our efforts to influence decisions and change systems, while policy represents the laws, regulations, and institutional priorities. Through this pillar, we reshape the environments that allow substance abuse to thrive and ensure prevention, treatment and recovery support are recognized as fundamental rights, not privileges.
We work to influence policies, mobilise community voices, and hold decision-makers accountable so that prevention, treatment, and recovery support become accessible to all, especially the underserved.
a. Policy Dialogue & Reform
We engage government bodies, health authorities and regional institutions to push for policies that prioritise substance use prevention, decriminalisation of addiction and investment in youth-centred recovery services. We translate community realities into actionable recommendations and advocate for budgets that match the scale of the crisis.
b. Coalition & Movement Building
We unite community organisations, youth networks, professional bodies and people with lived experience into a collective force for change. Through strategic partnerships and coordinated advocacy campaigns, we amplify the voices of those most affected and ensure that policy decisions are shaped not just by data but by human dignity.
c. Public Awareness & Stigma Reduction
We lead public campaigns that challenge the stereotypes and structural stigma that keep addiction hidden and untreated. By partnering with media, cultural influencers and local leaders, we reframe addiction as a health issue, not a moral failing and create an environment where seeking help is safe, respected and encouraged.
