FAQs
NuePath is a dynamic, youth-led registered organization built on the core values of integrity, empathy, volunteerism and impact-driven strategy. Unlike traditional models that treat recovery as an isolated event, we address Drug and Substance Abuse (DSA) through a multi-sectoral approach where we bring together key stakeholders of society to drive sustainable impact.
What is NuePath and what makes your approach to substance abuse unique?
1
Yes, absolutely. Every program, research framework and intervention deployed by NuePath in Zimbabwe is intentionally designed to operationalize and advance the Zimbabwe Multisectoral Drug and Substance Abuse Plan. By translating high-level national directives—such as demand reduction, harm reduction and community reintegration—into targeted grassroots actions, we ensure our work directly scales unified national public health objectives and meets international development standards (including SDG 17).
Is NuePath’s strategy aligned with national public health policies in Zimbabwe?
2
At the moment, we do not offer on-site medical detoxification or residential rehabilitation services. Instead, we act as an empathetic, frontline bridge. We partner closely with established public health stakeholders, medical practitioners, laboratories and rehabilitative facilities to guarantee safe, immediate and highly coordinated referral pathways for individuals in crisis. Our definitive long-term goal is to secure the foundational funding necessary to establish and operate our own dedicated NuePath Rehabilitation and Clinical Care Facilities.
Does NuePath directly offer clinical treatment or residential rehabilitation services?

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) partners or international grant makers can explicitly choose to anchor a single strategic track—such as sponsoring our College Dropout Reintegration Program, funding an Area-Specific Needs Assessment Study, or backing our Grassroots Prevention Campaigns in a specific area.

9
Who founded NuePath and what is the origin of the network?
10
NuePath International Recovery Network (NIRN) was conceived in 2023 as an idea to create a supportive network that promotes recovery from drug addiction and other effects of drug abuse, including mental health issues and social disconnection. Since then, what started as a concept on paper evolved into a project that qualified for the Millennium Fellowship through the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) and the Millennium Campus Network (MCN) in 2024.
The Founder and Chairperson of the founding Executive Committee, Gift Nyakutira—who also, through this project, was selected to be the University of Zimbabwe Millennium Fellowship Campus Director for 2024—recruited volunteer members who became co-founders and registered NuePath in 2026.
At present, NuePath's primary operational focus is rooted deeply in Zimbabwe, where we are actively deploying our frameworks to support the national public health response. However, we do not view the substance use crisis as an isolated national issue—it is a global challenge affecting millions worldwide. Our current strategic roadmap is explicitly built on a localized-to-global trajectory. By creating a flawless, data-backed proof of concept here in Zimbabwe, we are engineering a highly scalable, multi-dimensional model designed to expand into neighboring regional countries across Sub-Saharan Africa in the coming phases.
